This course selection period, I had an extremely hard time finding classes that fulfilled my general education requirements. When I was about to lose hope about finding a fun sector requirement, I came across FNAR 222 Big Pictures: Mural Arts. What I love about this course is that it not only teaches students how to design murals and the potential they have as a tool for social change, but also gives them a way to interact with the Philadelphia community outside of Penn’s campus. Aside from discussing the history and practice of the mural movement, students have the opportunity to design a mural and paint it from high school students in West Philadelphia.
