Jenny Saville is my favorite living painter- she is a contemporary British painter. She is known for her large scale female nude paintings that challenge stereotypical notions of beauty. Her work can sometimes be hard to look at, making it not for everyone. What I find most impressive about her is the painterly qualities of her work. It is remarkable how flesh-like and real her paintings feel when you stand in front of one.
