We viewed one of Kirsten Lepore’s works in class the other day (the story between the snow and the sand blobs) and Prof. Rivkin touched on one of her other works that I absolutely adore: Hi Stranger.
I discovered ‘Hi Stranger’ as one does; on a YouTube binge down a deep rabbit hole. But to this day, it remains one of the most memorable pieces of animation I’ve seen, not just because it’s so weird, but because it isn’t afraid of what it is. The medium of animation is used masterfully to tell a story to the viewer – to speak straight to the viewer, even.
In your darkest times, I daresay you may find this animated clay man with a blushed butt to be very comforting.
Haha! This animation always makes me laugh and cringe simultaneously. That is SO HARD to do.
